Aviation Club

The aviation club focuses on all the knowledge necessary to get a Private Pilot's License, the first license on any pilot's journey! That knowledge, as a bonus, is a great intro into all parts of aviation! Here are the requirements to get that license:
  • 15 years old to take the written exam
    • 15 years old is also the youngest age to receive a medical certificate (which is also your student license)
  • 16 years old to solo an airplane
  • 17 years old to take the checkride and recieve your license
    • The checkride comprises both an oral interview and flight check
  • 40hrs of minimum flight time, which includes:
    • Solo time
    • Night flying time
    • Cross country flying time
    • Instrument flying

(This is a simplified list)

What can you do with a private pilot's license?

You can fly planes like the Cessna 172 and Cherokee 180, or any other plane that has 200 or less horsepower, a fixed pitch propeller, and weighs less than 12,500 pounds.

This is a Cessna 172. You could fly this!
